The tutor: Eric Broug is a designer specialising in Islamic geometric design. He studied Islamic design at the School of Oriental & African Studies in London and has made a career of his passion. In 2014 he founded the UK-Based School of Islamic Geometric Design.

The tutor: Walid Taher is a well-known cartoonist, caricaturist and children’s author and illustrator. He has illustrated a number of children’s book, including Seven Souls and Kamal & Shukri, and published three collections of his adult work: A Bit of Air, Free and The Country.

Professor Nidhal Guessoum is one of the major voices speaking up for the advance of science in Muslim countries, and was recently recognised by Global Influence as an Arab Thought Leader and ‘a prime scholar on the relations between Islam and modern science.’

His new book The Young Muslim's Guide to Modern Science, launched at this session, introduces the basics of modern science, combats myths and misunderstandings, and emphasises that Islam, at its core, embraces the very same inquisitive spirit that underlies scientific thinking.

Our panel of art, architecture and design and wellbeing experts goes in search of the soul of a city.

Afra Atiq is an Emirati spoken-word poet. She is a member of the Untitled Chapters group and has a large YouTube following.

Yara Bamieh is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Ramallah; she has worked on conservation, reconstruction and cultural projects in Palestine.

Eric Broug is a master of Islamic geometric design who consults on architectural projects, advising on creative and effective use of Islamic heritage.

Meik Wiking is the CEO of the Happiness Research Institute and the author of The Little Book of Lykke, which shares six factors that explain the differences in happiness across the world.

This panel is moderated by Rachel McArthur.
