Let’s prepare the main ingredients to cook up a story! Join Maitha Al Khayat in this active workshop to create the characters, build up a plot and write your story. Every child will leave with their own cooked story to take home and devour!

The tutor: Maitha Al Khayat is an Emirati author and illustrator of several children’s picture books including I Love My Mum’s Pretty Veil, Two Whales and When a Camel Craves Logaimat.

Marrrrhaba! Join two top picture book creators, from the UK and the UAE, in creating an on-the-spot illustrated story, using your ideas! Discover storytelling secrets and get ready for rumbustuous fun and laughs for the whole family. Followed by a chance to get your books signed and doodled by the authors!

Maitha Al Khayat is one of the UAE’s most prolific Emirati children’s illustrators and writers. She has published 17 books, including My Own Special Way and Turn Off the Lights, and writes for the children’s TV shows Sesame Street and Hamdoon.

Sarah McIntyre is an illustrator and writer of books and comics who works out of the Fleece Station studio in London. She is the author and illustrator of Dinosaur Police and, with Philip Reeve, is the co-creator of Pugs of the Frozen North, Jinks & O’Hare Funfair Repair and more.

Join this interactive session with children’s author and Festival favourite Maitha Al Khayat, in which she reads from My Mum’s Pretty Veil: a story of the love between children and their mothers.

Maitha Al Khayat, Emirati children author and illustrator, has published number of children books including I love my dad’s long beard, Two Whales and others. She enjoys school visits, reading for children and children’s activities.
