Jo Marchant is an award-winning journalist, author and speaker. Her books explore the nature of humanity and our universe. Her books include New York Times bestseller Cure: A Journey into the Science of Mind over Body (2016), shortlisted for the Royal Society Science Books Prize, and The Human Cosmos: Civilisation and the Stars, which was regarded the best book of 2020 by outlets including The Economist, Smithsonian and Wired. A trained scientist, Marchant has a PhD in genetics and medical microbiology from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College and an MSc in Science Communication from Imperial College London. She has worked as a senior editor at New Scientist and at Nature, and previously published articles for the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian and Smithsonian Magazine.
