In 2019, Polly Phillips won the Montegrappa Writing Prize (now, the Emirates LitFest Writing Prize) at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and went on to secure a two-book publishing deal with Simon & Schuster. Her first novel, My Best Friend’s Murder, the opening of which won the prize in 2019, was published to great acclaim in 2021 and has already been translated into Polish. Her second novel, The Reunion, is set to be published in July 2021.
Polly has a degree in History from the University of Cambridge and has worked widely as a journalist with pieces featured in the Daily Telegraph, the New York Post, the Daily Mail, the Daily Express, and Emirates Woman amongst others.
Polly lived in Dubai from 2016 to 2020 and considers her time in the ‘sandpit’ as some of the happiest of her life. She currently lives in Perth, Western Australia with her husband and daughter where she is working on her third novel, a thriller about playground politics and competitive mothers.
