Mona Al-Shammari is a Kuwaiti novelist, screenwriter, and former journalist. She has more than 25 years of experience in journalism and writing.
She won the State Incentive Award in Literature 2018 for her novel, No Music in Al-Ahmadi and was also awarded in 2017 for her story collection, Two Heads Under One Umbrella.
In addition to her published literary works, her novel, No Music in Al-Ahmadi, as well as her story, Black Kohl, White Heart were developed into TV series in 2019 and 2017 respectively.
Mona is a member of the Kuwait Journalists Association, and she is currently the Deputy Managing Editor of the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Mustaqbal, and she was a former member of the Committee for Reading Dramatic Texts at MBC.
Her latest novel, The Maids of the Maqam, was published in 2021 by Dar Al-Saqi, Beirut.
