Karim Hauser is Head of International Relations at Spain’s Casa Árabe, where he has edited three books including The Arab Presence in the Americas, the volumes Diálogos Sobre Sociedades Abiertas and Iraq at a Crossroads, and a special issue of the Awraq journal dedicated to a decade of transformations in the Arab world. He has previously worked as a broadcast journalist with the BBC World Service in London, during which he was posted as BBC Mundo’s correspondent in the Middle East, based in Cairo (2005-2008). His poetry has been published in Agua, poesía líquida and one of his short stories in Luvina. He also has experience in theatre as an actor and assistant director and is the author of Mariachi in Transit, a photographic performance project. Raised by a Mexican father and an Egyptian mother, Karim is fluent in four languages and intercultural mediation. He completed a Bachelor’s in International Relations at Mexico’s ITAM and a master’s degree in Radio at Goldsmiths, University of London.
