David Lammy is the Member of Parliament for Tottenham and the Shadow Foreign Secretary. One of the leading agenda-setters in the fields of social activism, diversity, and multi-culturalism, he was a member of the previous Labour Government (2001-2010), is respected across the party spectrum and is a well-known figure amongst the general public. He was Shadow Justice Secretary from April 2020 until November 2021 and won both GQ’s and the Political Studies Association’s Politician of the Year in 2018.
As Shadow Foreign Secretary, Lammy continues to set out Labour’s vision for a values-led foreign policy based on cooperation and internationalism. As an activist for environmental justice, he is the founder of the Sophia Point Rainforest Research Centre in Guyana and has presented a TED talk as part of the Countdown to COP26 series, calling for a global recognition that we cannot solve the climate crisis without racial and social justice. Lammy is also an Ambassador for the LEAF Coalition, bringing together private sector and governments to provide finance for forest conservation.
