George Jose is Visiting Associate Professor of Anthropology, NYU Abu Dhabi. He researches metropolitan peripheries towards understanding distinctive forms of urbanism especially in the Global South. Jose was the Dean of the Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts (JDSOLA), NMIMS University, Mumbai; the inaugural Programme Director of Asia Society’s India Centre, Mumbai, and Programme Executive with the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bengaluru.
He has taught in numerous architecture, design, and management institutes in India while also facilitating the development of policies and strategies to manage programmes in research and documentation, collaboration and education in the arts, and helped design partnerships with artists and arts organizations. Jose maintains a strong interest in arts practice across disciplines; serves collaborative projects in an advisory capacity; and is an occasional actor in film and theatre productions.
