Elisabetta Dami, most famously known as Geronimo Stilton, is a children’s author and writer of the Geronimo Stilton series, that she started writing in a pediatric hospital more than 20 years ago, to donate a smile to children who were ill. The series is adventurous, funny and inspired by universal good values, like friendship, respect, solidarity and kindness. The books have been translated to over 52 languages and have sold more than 182 million copies. Apart from Geronimo, she recently created more animal literary characters, like Billo and Billa in the Valley of Happiness for preschool readers and Word of Blue Wolf, for young and adult readers.
Stilton was born in a family of publishers, so she has years of experience in the publishing field. She also has long since engaged in social and charity initiatives. She founded the Geronimo Stilton Foundation, aimed at health and nature conservation goals for children in Italy and abroad. She is on the board of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Italy, Terre des Hommes, the Buzzi Pediatric Hospital in Milano and other charity institutions since years.
