Shakir Noori is a journalist and professor. From the city of his birth, Jalawla - Diyala, Shakir Noori went to his father’s city of Baghdad for university where he graduated with a BA in English literature in 1972 and became an English teacher. He received a master's degree in media from the Higher School of Studies and a BTS certificate in Cinematography from the Institut Louis Lumiere in 1979 and a PhD in Cinema and Theater from the Sorbonne University in 1983 during his stay in Paris, France. He worked as a cultural correspondent for several Iraqi and Arabic newspapers and magazines and worked at Radio Monte Carlo.
Noori has won the several awards including, Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature for his book A Residence Card in the Tower of Babel, the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction for his novel Khatun Baghdad, and the Arab Press Prize 2018 in journalistic dialogue. He held several training courses at Hamdan Smart University during the Summer Academy 2018.
