Iman Mersal is an Egyptian poet, writer, academic and translator. She is an assistant professor of Arabic literature at the University of Alberta, Canada.
She published five poetry collections, the lastest being Until I Give Up the Idea of Homes in 2013. An anthology of Mersal's poems has been translated into more than twenty languages, and Robin Cresswell's anthology of her work will be published in 2022.
In 2017, Mersal published How to Mend: Motherhood and Its Ghosts and was translated into English by Robin Moger in 2018.
In 2019, Mersal published her latest book, Athar Enayat Al-Zayat, and was translated to French in 2021. The book was awarded the Sheikh Zayed Prize for Literature in 2021.
