Julia Wheeler
Julia Wheeler is a writer, journalist and interviewer who worked for the BBC for more than 15 years, including as the BBC’s Gulf Correspondent. She chairs at several festivals including Cheltenham (Literature and Science), Stanfords Travel Writers Festival at London’s Olympia and the Chiswick, Stratford and Budleigh Salterton Literary Festivals.

She has also chaired events at The British Library and onboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and for The Evening Standard Stories Festival in association with Netflix, and has guest directed a Festival herself – The 2021 Stratford Literary Festival. Some of Julia’s star-studded interviewees include Graham Norton, Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse, Robert Webb, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Darcey Bussell, Julian Clary, Alexander McCall Smith, Richard Osman, Rory Bremner, David Baddiel, Ben Miller, Mel Giedroyc, Jenny Eclair, Jeannette Winterson, Kate Humble, Rachel Johnson, Mariella Frostrup, Simon Armitage, ElifShafak, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Harris and more. She was part of a theatre and book tour with Amanda Owen, The Yorkshire Shepherdess, and is the author of her own award-winning book Telling Tales: An Oral History of Dubai.
