Zelda la Grange: Good Morning, Mr Mandela
Date/Time: Friday 8 March, 10am-11am
Venue: Al Ras 2, InterContinental, DFC
Language: English
Session No: 74
A white Afrikaner, Zelda la Grange grew up in segregated South Africa, supporting the regime and the rules of apartheid. Yet just a few years after Nelson Mandela’s release and the end of apartheid, she would be traveling the world by his side, having grown to respect and cherish the man she would come to call "Khulu", or “grandfather".
Here la Grange pays tribute to Mandela as she knew him and tells the extraordinary story of how a young woman’s life was utterly transformed by the man she had been taught was the enemy.
