“For sale: Baby shoes, never worn”

This infamous six-word story is just one example of how much impact short fiction can have on a reader. Murzban F. Shroff has been nominated six times for the prestigious Pushcart Prize and has written the collection Breathless in Bombay and a new collection, Fasttrack Fiction written specifically for the cell-phone reader. Writer, editor and writing coach Allison K Williams is the host of the Brevity podcast, based on the blog and magazine of the same name that dissects and publishes short non-fiction, and her own work has appeared on NPR’s Snap Judgement and The Moth. They are joined by short-story writer and founder of Dubai Literary Salon Hananah Zaheer, whose work is published in several literary magazines and journals and who has won numerous awards including the Lawrence Foundation Literary Prize for Fiction in 2017 and a Pushcart Prize nomination. Whether you’re an interested reader or aspiring writer of short stories, come and hear what these writers have to say about the gravity of brevity in both fiction and non-fiction, with readings from their own work.
