Picture books are increasingly recognized as an important step in literacy. Sharing picture books is not only about picking up another language, it is also about giving children a wider window onto the world.
Our panelists will share their experiences on how picture books help children develop vocabulary, comprehension, confidence and imagination.
Maitha Al Khayat is an Emirati children’s illustrator and writer. She is a Board Member at the UAE Board on Books for Young People – IBBY.
Nabiha Mheidly is an author and founder of Al Hadaek Publishing house, which specializes in children’s books and magazines.
Mona Yakzan is an award-winning Lebanese/Cypriot artist who has illustrated many children’s books and won several awards.
