From Conflict and Despair to Creativity and Beauty: Alannah Hill and Lalage Snow

Friday 1 March, 2pm-3pm

Novo Cinemas, DFC

When conflict, pain and personal trauma wreak havoc on our lives and communities, how do we turn that chaos into something beautiful? Alannah Hill is one of Australia’s most successful fashion designers, but she walked a hard road to get where she is today - Butterfly on a Pin: A Memoir of Love, Despair and Reinvention is the story of that tough journey. She is joined by award-winning freelance photojournalist, writer and filmmaker Lalage Snow who has covered war in the Middle East and Afghanistan for over ten years. Her latest book War Gardens: A Journey Through Conflict in Search of Calm is a tragic and beautiful look at families, soldiers and ordinary people who tend to peaceful spaces in times and places of destruction.
