Session No: 157

When writing and publishing personal stories, how do we decide how much to share and how much to hold back? Does embellishment do the truth a disservice?

Sara Sadik is the author of nonfiction memoir Finding the Magic in Mommyhood, an unflinching guide for mothers trying to retain their sanity in a perfection-driven world, and she has a lot to say about her journey from blog post to book deal.

Daniela Tully has been working in the field of story-telling for decades, mainly in film and television. Moving away from the collaborative nature of stories for the screen, she decided she wanted to write her own story, Hotel on Shadow Lake, inspired by a letter that her grandmother received from her twin brother after the fall of the Berlin Wall, 46 years after he sent it.

Come and hear these very different writers discuss the inspiration for their books and journey to publication.
