In this session our panelists will discuss the challenges that Arab writers face in publishing their works, including the impact of new technologies.

The panel will discuss the available publishing options for writers, both traditional and non-traditional. What are the solutions to bring the book out of the current crisis, and how are other publishing industries approaching new challenges?

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb serves as Cultural Advisor to the Government of Dubai. Since 2013, he has been managing the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF).

Jabbour Douaihy is a Lebanese writer. His novel The Vagrant was shortlisted for IPAF 2012 and has been translated into several languages.

Bilal Orfali is Chairperson of the Arabic Department and Near Eastern languages at the American University of Beirut and previously held the M.S. Sofia Chair in Arabic Studies at the Ohio State University. He specialises in Arabic literature, Sufism, and Qurʾānic Studies.
