The Mysteries of Memoir: Investigating, Writing and Publishing Your Own Story: Workshop with Allison K Williams
Date/Time: Friday 11 February 2022 10:00-12:00
Venue: Dahlia, Hilton, Al Habtoor City
Language: English
Session No: 841
There’s a powerful truth you need to write. But some of the story is…missing. How can you mine your own memory for sensory detail? What happens when someone else’s memory directly conflicts with yours? Which parts of your past should just remain buried? By investigating your past with a detective’s eye, you’ll deepen understanding of your own story, where it begins, and what makes it compelling to read.
In this workshop, learn key strategies for recalling times, places, characters and scenes. You’ll strategize how to navigate real-life relationships with tact and confidence while getting the details you need. In-class writing exercises will help you remember key events, and you’ll learn the three publishing paths for memoir—and which one will be right for you.
