Session No. 94

When altering traditional recipes for a more modern and health-conscious table, how far can you go before you anger your ancestors and heritage - can you still stay true to your grandmother’s recipe if you swap rice for quinoa, cow milk for almond milk, sugar for stevia? Join Dr Rupy Aujla and Zahra Abdalla as they discuss the ways in which they have adapted traditional ingredient lists and cooking methods for the busy modern lives they lead, and which recipes have been the biggest hits with exacting eaters.

Dr Rupy Aujla, MBBS, BSc, MRCGP, is the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Doctor’s Kitchen, Eat to Beat Illness and most recently Doctor’s Kitchen: 3-2-1 in addition to being an NHS GP working in Emergency Medicine and completing a masters in Nutritional Medicine.

Zahra Abdalla is a half-Iranian, half-Sudanese cookbook author, presenter, entrepreneur and social media influencer whose culinary journey started with her online blog and grew to presenting her own TV cooking shows. Zahra considers herself a modern-day Bedouin and creates modern interpretations of Middle Eastern recipes, inspired by her childhood, flavours of the region and her travels.
