Naji Bakhti's and Alwawiya Sobh's works document the direct and indirect impact of the Lebanese civil war on its unfortunate victims, as well as the threats it poses on their lives. But how do they build characters of realistic and relatable qualities that portray the victims' struggles and survival instincts? In a session filled with faith and perseverance, Alawiya Sobh and Naji Bakhti discuss the influence of their personal experiences on their creative works.

Alawiya Sobh, a Lebanese writer who has published a number of novels, she published her first novel, Maryam Al-Hakaya, in 2002, which has been translated into a number of languages, along with Dunya and Ismuhu Al-Gharam.

Naji Bakhti is a Lebanese writer who holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. He is the author of Between Beirut and the Moon.
