‘Art is anything you can get away with.’ - Marshall McLuhan

A banana taped to a wall, an invisible sculpture, a shark in formaldehyde – the contemporary art world can be a confusing and intimidating space. Assistant Curator for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi project, author of Tate: Contemporary Art Decoded and co-author of Who’s Afraid of Contemporary Art?, Jessica Cerasi, is here to cut through all the confusion as easily as shredding a Banksy.

From teaching a popular Demystifying Contemporary Art course at Tate Modern, to being part of the curatorial teams for the Sydney and Venice Biennales and London’s Hayward Gallery, Jessica brings a wealth of experience to this accessible conversation about what makes art contemporary, why it’s so expensive, and what and who it’s for.
