‘The Vignes twins vanished on August 14, 1954, right after the Founder’s Day dance, which, everyone realized later, had been their plan all along.’

The Vanishing Half was published in 2021 to rave reviews, with the Financial Times calling it ‘fluent and openhearted’ and the Guardian praising its ‘richly detailed settings’. Author Brit Bennett, in Dubai for the first time, will discuss the ways in which the book’s deep exploration of identity and abandonment has resonated with readers.

Brit Bennett is the author of The Mothers and The Vanishing Half. Her work is featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review, and Jezebel.

This conversation will be moderated by Allison K Williams. The author of Get Published in Literary Magazines and Seven Drafts: Self-Edit Like a Pro From Blank Page to Book, Allison is also a former circus performer, the Social Media Editor for Brevity where she inspires thousands of writers with blogs on craft, and has written for NPR, CBC, the New York Times, McSweeney’s, and more.

Brit Bennett will now be appearing virtually
