Piracy is an escalating issue for writers and publishers around the globe. So how can authors, artists and publishers ensure the protection and preservation of their work?

Members of the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA), the first and only of its kind in the region, will guide you through rights management and explain how you can safeguard your copyright.

Abdelrahman Almaeni  is the Secretary General of the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA), the Secretary General of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association and the Director of the Institutional Development Office in the Excellence and Entrepreneurship Sector, Dubai Police General Command.

Dr Afra Atiq is an Emirati poet, scholar and teaching artist. As the founding member of Untitled Chapters, she has spent the last decade at the intersection of education and culture in various capacities. Dr Atiq writes and performs in a blend of English, Arabic, and French, exploring a broad range of topics including heritage, culture, identity, and legacy. She has been awarded for her poetry and has been featured on stages across the world, from Expo 2020 Dubai to London Book Fair.

Dr Alyaziah Khalifa is an Emirati researcher and writer who founded Dar Al Fulk for Translation and Publishing in 2015. She currently serves as a Secretary and board member of Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA). Khalifa published her first children’s picture book When Air Thinks in 2016.

Majd Al Shehhi  is the Director of the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) and was part of Knowledge Without Borders, through which she managed the 1001 Titles project, aiming to publish and support Emirati authors.

The conversation will be chaired by Salha Obeid. An Emirati writer who has published several short story collections as well as the novel Maybe It’s a Joke . Her most recent book, The Circle of Spices  was released in 2022. She is also the Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) treasurer.
