Most of us have seen geckos in Dubai, but come to hear about a special one called Howard – who is very proud of his ability to camouflage himself! When he discovers that his talent isn’t unique, Howard wonders what life will be like as an average gecko… but then he meets Dolores (another average gecko) and he discovers that you don’t have to be exceptional to be loved – and those that love you will never think you’re average at all. Wendy Meddour brings this heart-warming story to life with her entertaining reading and maybe even a little bit of colouring for the young audience members.
Dr Wendy Meddour is an internationally successful children’s author and the Director of Creative Writing at Exeter University. Winner of the Margaret Wise Brown Prize for Children’s Literature in 2020, her stories are known for addressing difficult topics in a thoughtful, reassuring and uplifting manner.
