Venue: 4th Floor Conference Room 4, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Al Jaddaf - Dubai

Session No: 67

‘The heart of entrepreneurship is never about what we have. It’s about what we do.’

Join Jessica Jackley in this inspiring talk about how one can pursue entrepreneurial projects that are centred on care, compassion, and communal uplifting. Jackley will delve into her own experiences and her ventures in Kiva, ProFounder, and Alltruists, and how these ventures prove that business and entrepreneurial activity does not have to be an individualist selfish ambition, but rather an opportunity to create community and support other like-minded people worldwide. Jessica also shares the lessons she learned from successful entrepreneurs from some of the world’s poorest countries, captured in her book Clay Water Brick.

Jessica Jackley is an American entrepreneur investor, and speaker. Her work over the last decade has focused on financial inclusion, the sharing economy and social justice. She co-founded Kiva and ProFounder, two organisations that promote development through microloans. Kiva is the world's first crowdfunding site for microenterprises. More recently, she was the founder of Alltruists, offering at-home, kid-friendly volunteer projects for families.
