Join husband-and-wife duos Angelo R Lacuesta and Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta and Katie and Kevin Tsang as they explore their respective bodies of work, and how and where their work bleeds into the other’s as they grow as writers and partners. Discussing representation and making a mark on the international stage as writers, they will also share how their relationship impacts and informs their writing careers. What are their household and writing routines like? Do they write in the same room? Are they each other’s biggest critic or biggest supporter? The conversation will be chaired by bestselling author Kate Mosse, Founder Director of the influential Women’s Prize for Fiction and known for her multi million selling historical fiction including Labyrinth and The Joubert Family Chronicles, and bestselling non fiction including Warrior Queens & Quiet Revolutionaries: How Women (Also) Built the World.
Angelo R. Lacuesta is a Filipino author who has written five short story collections, two non-fiction books, and a collection of graphic stories. His new novel, Joy, navigates a Filipino man’s ruminations of memory and identity, loss and love, after a late-night virtual message rekindles relationships abandoned after decades of distance. Lacuesta is the President of the Philippine Centre of PEN International, and the winner of numerous awards including the National Book Award, the NVM Gonzalez Award, and several Palanca Memorial Awards. Lacuesta is currently based in Manila, Philippines.
Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta is the author of five poetry collections and a debut biofiction novel, Assembling Alice. She has co-edited various literary Filipino poetry anthologies for the Cordite Poetry Review and Vagabond Press. Widely awarded for her work in the Philippines, Katigbak-Lacuesta has also been the Filipino delegate to international literary festivals in Rotterdam, Medellín, San Francisco, Macau, and Kuala Lumpur.
Katie and Kevin Tsang are a bestselling children’s author duo. They met in 2008 while studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and have since lived on three different continents and travelled to over 40 countries together. In addition to the Space Blasters series, they are the co-authors of the young fiction series Sam Wu is Not Afraid and the Dragon Realm books. Katie also writes YA as Katherine Webber.
