Date/Time: Saturday 4 February 2023 16:00-17:00
Venue: Al Baraha II, InterContinental, Dubai Festival City
Language: English
Session No: 120
As the sun sets in the city of Manila, creatures and monsters of the night rise in its streets. When crime takes a turn for the weird, the police call Alexandra Trese, a private investigator with psionic abilities and the supernatural wit capable of unravelling the strangest paranormal cases.
Described as the ‘modern grandchild’ of local Filipino Komiks, Trese offers us a world where creatures of Philippine lower mythology exist side-by-side with humans in the concrete jungle and, more often than not, the latter are the real monsters. Join creators Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo as they delve into their journey developing the komiks and their recent Netflix adaptation, reflecting on their relationship both as friends and as creative collaborators, and on what lies ahead for the world of aswang, dwende and Alexandra Trese.
(Make sure to say ‘Tabi-Tabi Po’ as you enter the session …)
