Date/Time: Saturday 4 February 2023 18:15-19:15
Venue: Al Amwaj II, InterContinental, Dubai Festival City
Language: Arabic
Session No: 148
A child raises his index finger to his father’s head and pulls the trigger; his father falls to the ground. Dead. After the incident, that finger never grows.
In his IPAF shortlisted novel Cairo Maquette, author Tareq Imam presents several surrealist characters from this child to a man cut in half with an eyeball in his hand, and a girl in a romantic relationship with a man in her mirror.
Imam’s ability to create a world full of madness is also revealed in his two novels, City of Endless Walls and The Tale of the Old Man Who Dies in Every City He Dreams Of.
Let’s delve into those uncanny worlds together, and fall in love with all their idiosyncrasies and personalities. Let us explore the mad mind of the creative genius Tareq Imam.
This session is moderated by Bilal Orfali
As you plan your day at the Festival, please take into consideration that it takes between 30-60 mins to commute between the Intercontinental, Festival City and Mohammed Bin Rashid Library.
