Date/Time: Thursday 2 February 2023 17:00-18:00
Venue: Al Baraha II, InterContinental, Dubai Festival City
Language: English
Session No: 172
The late HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum represented the UAE on the international stage as a diplomat and had a massive impact on public affairs, but as a staunchly private person we rarely got a glimpse into his personal life. In this intimate conversation with moderator Julia Wheeler, his daughter HH Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum discusses her book Through My Eyes, a tribute to her father – not just the formidable man he was in public but also the joyous, kind, warm and thoughtful man he was behind closed doors. The book provides rare insights into his life and how his family is upholding his most cherished values of generosity, kindness, charity, education and the betterment of society.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan Al Maktoum is the founder of Latifa Bint Hamdan Club for Skills, a year-long development programme that empowers youth in their entrepreneurial projects. She is the Chairwoman of Zabeel Ladies Club, where she continues her father’s legacy, and has implemented numerous philanthropic initiatives and health and wellness projects that support and enhance the well-being of society. She is the author of Through My Eyes: The Life of Sheikh Hamdan as Told by His Daughter. Launched a year after Sheikh Hamadan’s passing, this book is a tribute to and a measure of the overwhelming love and respect she has for her father’s life and values. The book is also a remembrance and celebration of the many ways in which Sheikh Hamdan touched the lives of countless people.
Ian Fairservice will provide an introduction to the book ahead of the conversation.
