The LitFest Launchpad provides UAE-based authors a chance to introduce their latest works to audiences. The authors in this session write in a variety of genres but all have in common their mission to bring to vivid life characters from different times and places whose stories can teach us something important.

Each speaker will answer questions about their own book. Join us to discover and support the UAE’s fantastic writing community!

Deepika Shetty is a certified chef by profession. After working in the culinary industry for a while, she took off to explore her own path, taking on projects creating recipes and worked on building her brand ‘shortgirlbakes’, where she is known for desserts, sweets and savouries with Indian influences. She is the author of Coconut Grove: Exploring Coastal Flavours.

Farah Naz is an award-winning Climate Change strategist with 20 years' experience in the construction sector gained in the USA, UK, Southeast Asia and most recently the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Farah chairs CIBSE UAE Chapter and is an advocate of STEM education for the future generation. Farah recently co-authored a book titled Net Zero City.

Lexi Stadlen is a writer, anthropologist, and ethnographer. With a PhD in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics, she spent two and a half years living in India, conducting fieldwork research on the intimate lives of women. In 2019 she won the Royal Asiatic Society’s Bayly Prize, awarded for an outstanding thesis on an Asian topic completed at a British university in the preceding year.

Muhammad Ali Bandial grew living in military cantonments in remote areas and assimilating the varied cultures and practices of the five provinces of Pakistan. He worked for more than a decade as a Federal Government Officer in various departments including the Trade Policy Wing and the National Counter Terrorism Authority, before switching to the private sector. He currently works as an Editor at Khaleej Times.

Sreedhar Bevara is a contemporary thought leader appreciated by many top names including Dr Shashi Tharoor, Chris Gardner and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is a recipient of the coveted award of Amazon's Most Popular Book of 2021 for his latest bestseller The Roaring Lambs. Bevara is a contributor to Forbes on leadership and an Innovation advisor to the Government of Goa, India.
