As we await the coronation of King Charles III in May, travel back nearly 70 years to 1953 and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch.

Anthony Geffen and Atlantic Productions take you back to the beginning of the second Elizabethan age in a unique documentary that features the Queen’s own memories of the coronation as well as those of eyewitnesses, giving an entirely new perspective on this world-famous event. The Coronation also explores the role and symbolic meaning of the Crown Jewels in the centuries-old coronation ceremony, showing these objects of astonishing beauty in new high-resolution footage.

The screening of the 60-minute documentary will be followed by a talk and Q&A with Anthony Geffen, BAFTA- and Emmy winning filmmaker and CEO and Creative Director of Atlantic Productions. Anthony will discuss how he made this prestigious film and what he learned about the story behind the coronation.

The Coronation is a co-production with Smithsonian Channel and ABC Television and distributed by FremantleMedia International.
