Prose Poetry & Flash Memoirs: Creative Writing Workshop with Nathalie Handal
Date/Time: Monday 6 February 2023 10:00-11:30
Session No: 112
Grab your journal: this is about to get personal (and poetic). Join poet and writer Nathalie Handal as she guides you in exploring everyday ruminations – perhaps on your love for tea, someone you once saw crossing the road, or a cloud formation that looks like a crocodile – in prose poetry, verse and flash memoir. This slice-of-life workshop is suitable for writers at any level of experience, if you are open to getting acquainted with a new writing form in which to hone your craft.
Nathalie Handal is the author or editor of 10 books, including Life in a Country Album, winner of the Palestine Book Award, The Republics, the critically acclaimed Poet in Andalucía, Love and Strange Horses, and the bilingual collections Riflessi and La estrella invisible. Her non-fiction has appeared in Vanity Fair, Guernica, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Nation, and the Irish Times, among others. She is professor of literature and creative writing at New York University Abu Dhabi and writes the literary travel column ‘The City and the Writer’ for Words Without Borders magazine.
