Illustrating a picture book is not as complex as you might think. Join Emirati illustrator Maitha Al Khayat as she guides you through the processes of picture book illustration. This workshop will delve into the initial stages of creating simple thumbnail book outlines, conceptualising dynamic characters and sketching scenery backdrops. By the end of the session, you will be able to understand how to create a full-fledged picture book draft which includes an organised book layout, character samples, and finalised full color illustrated pages
Workshop participants should have prior artistic experience and basic knowledge in illustration.
Maitha Al Khayat is a member of a new breed of Emirati superheroes. The mother of five has won literary awards and is one of the UAE’s most prolific Emirati children’s illustrators and writers. In less than 12 years, Maitha has published more than 178 books, which have been translated internationally and are used in schools around the world.
