How can literature and the arts, in all of their expressions, contribute to the growth of the creative economy? And, more specifically, how can investment opportunities be created for investors in this sector?

In light of the UAE's leadership in this field, and at a time when the country is devoting resources to developing effective strategies, this session will highlight a wide range of literary and artistic endeavours that contribute to the creative economy, including podcasts, cinema, games, music, and many more.

Abdullah Almestrih Alnuaimi is a singer, composer and producer. He holds a BA in Business and Financial Management from the University of San Diego. In addition to an MA in International Management for Middle Eastern and East African Affairs from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. He worked as a teaching assistant at the UAEU, a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affair, and a Presenter on the talk show Who Are We. He’s also known as a singer with one of his most prominent songs being ‘Swords of Excellence’ based on the words of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may God protect him. He is winner of the Al Owais Cultural Award in the Music category and is the CEO and founder of Ghinwa.

Waheeda AlHadhrami works for the Ministry of Culture and Youth within the Cultural and Creative Industries Sector in which she focuses on strategy, business environment studies, policy research, partnerships, and is part of the core team that developed the UAE’s recently launched 10-year National strategy for the Cultural and Creative Industries.

Giuseppe Moscatello is an artist, curator and art producer with over 15 years of extensive experience in the UAE and in Italy. He is the founder of the art agency Evolve DXB, and co-founder of Foundry, a new art centre in Dubai. For the past 20 years he has been working closely with digital artists, and recently started to strategise, curate and produce art projects in the metaverse.

Noora Al Awadhi is the author of Khalifa, the book series centered around an Emirati superhero, and is a full-time strategy specialist at Dubai Economy & Tourism, Government of Dubai. Noora is also a volunteer youth mentor and has previously won the E7 Mentor of the year 2019 award. She started www.mendheroacademy.com to share creative stories about the future of the UAE. She graduated from Zayed University with a degree in Management and Information Systems.

This discussion will be chaired by Dr Ashraf Ali Mahate. Dr Ashraf Mahate is the Chief Economist at Dubai Industries and Exports, an agency of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. He is closely involved with policy development and regularly works with officials from federal ministries and international agencies on issues related to industrial development, trade and international trade agreements. Dr Mahate received his doctorate from Bayes Business School part of City University of London (UK).
